Outdoor Environmental Education Africa ToursThe time has arrived!
After a few months of hard work, Ronel Harris, Founder and Director of Outdoor Environmental Education Tours Africa, who is very passionate about giving back to the less fortunate, has done it again!
Each year, through OEEA Tours, Ronél sponsors a number of children who have never had the experience of going away on tour, so that they can see how wonderful Mother Nature is, and perhaps get inspired to dream big. Also every month, she donates to different charities.
Ronél has a passion for helping people less fortunate than her, coming from humble beginnings, she knows all too well what it is like to go without. So, every year she plans a Christmas lunch and gifts for a Charity.
This year, she decided she wanted to do something different.
‘2019 has been such a hard year for us, with the economy the way it is, and for so many people the struggle and hardships have just gotten worse, so I feel I have to do something, It’s very important to me’ stated Ronel.
When she met with her staff a few months ago to plan this year’s Christmas Charity event, they discovered that the need for assistance was much bigger than originally thought. They identified 3 different local charities who do not receive any assistance from Government and all together there would be over 300 children to cater for.
She wondered how she would manage to do something bigger and better than before in order to bring cheer to so many children’s lives. This was not something that could be done alone.
Then, Marie and Hennie Swanepoel from Achterbergh Camp and Conference Centre, one of OEEA’s clients, heard of Ronel’s plans, and immediately jumped on board by offering the use of their venue, as well as to provide lunch for all the children. This was a huge blessing, which would be the start of an even bigger event.
However, Ronel wanted to give more, such as entertainment for the children, as well as gifts. She wanted to bring joy and cheer to each and every child. This is not about the need, this is about bringing joy to the children, by giving them something other than basic needs.
Ronel then met with Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rocci Chamber, who gladly offered to partner with Outdoor Environmental Education Africa. ROCCI went out of their way to assist in bringing together their members to donate gifts, services and funds to use for the day.
As ROCCI’s corporate sponsors, VaultAge Solutions and @West Rand News jumped on board and offered to cover the event for the day in their media, as well as give a generous cash donation towards the event. – A huge thank you to them.
In the interim, so many others have come forward, some of OEEA’s other clients, individuals and local companies have all come together in making this a success.
