Leadership Program

3 Day Leadership Development Program

(Early Arrival – 2 nights- Early Departure)

The Leadership combined with adventure camp is for groups which have been selected or are functioning as a leadership team (i.e. leadership teams or student representative council’s). The program will focus on adventure with elements in it which will develop and introduce leadership concepts with learners. Activities* chosen to be incorporated in the program is determined by and influenced by factors such as -the group dynamics & composition of the group, age, different grades compiling the group, size of the group and time available.

Arrival Day 1

09:00  Welcoming

  • Dividing into teams
  • Team Names & War cries
  • Bodycheck and safety drills
  • Camp rules
  • Room allocation
  • Orientation & Lay-out of Camp (Build a model of camp)
  • Something cold to drink
  • Me, Myself and I. – (Activities* focused on getting to know yourself and your teammates.)

13:00 Lunch Time

  • Leadership Discussion & Theory (The Concept of leadership & effective teams, leadership styles, tools to aid in effective teamwork)
  • Activities*
  • Puzzles & Brain Teasers- Pictionary- Pick a stick-
  • Preparation for Camp Fire plays

18:00 Dinner

  • Campfire Plays
  • BedTime

Day 2

Wake up call, an answer to the rhythm of the African Drum

Morning Coffee & Rusks

  • Gamedrive & Safari, or
  • Animal trump Cards, or
  • African Meditation
  • (Rotation of groups Day 2 & Day 3)

08:00 Breakfast (Day 2)

(Rotation of groups 1 Hour sessions 15min Water break & rotation Time)

Experiential learning activities focused on Leadership Development.

Leadership developmental activities (activities* are chosen -taking into account the group dynamics the composition of the group such as age, gender and other factors.)  Activities designed to challenge the group’s abilities and create opportunities for potential leaders to take the lead and apply skills and form by overcoming the difficulties facing the group. Employing leadership qualities and management principles to overcome the challenges and lead the team to success.

13:00 Lunch

De-brief on leadership skills acquired, identifying problem areas and putting together a stop start continue program where leaders point out areas where they need to focus on which habits and behaviours needs to stop and which leadership skills they already doing need to continue.

Activities* to test new abilities, develop & hone the learners’ leadership skills & teamwork.
